Vikram Pratap Singh: Teenage talent from Punjab

Vikram Pratap Singh is an Indian footballer who plays for Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC as a forward. Before joining Mumbai City FC, he played for Indian Arrows from 2018 to 2020 where he scored 5 goals in 27 games. However, he has shined the brightest for the Indian U17 team as he scored 15 goals in 33 games. He has also scored 3 goals in 14 games. His goal against Vietnam helped India win their first match in the AFC Under-16 Championship 2018 in Malaysia.
Vikram can play all across the front three though he mainly prefers to operate from the right flank. He is a very threatening player in the final third as he has got very good dribbling ability and is hard to shake off the ball. Though Indian Arrows finished the 19-20 season with only 9 points from 16 games, Vikram shined along with fellow attack-minded players in Ayush Adhikari and Rohit Danu.
The teenager’s love for football originated from his uncle. Vikram’s uncle wanted him to apply at the renowned Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) which is known to have given a platform for many established players. With support from his uncle, Vikram progressed from strength to strength in his abilities. Vikram played with Amarjit Singh, who captained the Indian team at the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup but he could not get selected for the tournament.
This small problem would not deter Vikram as he became indispensable for the team which reached the quarter-finals of the 2018 AFC U16 Championship, losing to South Korea. Had India won against South Korea in that match, they would have played in the 2019 U17 World Cup in Brazil.
Vikram Pratap Singh is set for a great future in Indian football. He will be one of the young players that the scouts should keep an eye on for the upcoming ISL season.
