Dibyendu Biswas : The striker from Bengal

Bengal has been a powerhouse of Indian football for many years and gifted a number of players through ages. One of them is the striker of Indian football Dibyendu Biswas. His father was from Bengal and his mother from Kerala. These two states are the football loving states in India.
Dipendu Biswas (29 September 1981) is an Indian footballer, born in West Bengal. He graduated from the Tata Football Academy in 1996. He rejoined Mohun Bagan in 2012. He was one of the very few footballers of the current time who played in three Bengal giants.
Dipendu Biswas have dominated the Indian football in the 1990’s representing the Indian national team on many occasions along with the Bengal state team. Dipendu Biswas is a Football pundit as well as Football expert of TV Channel "News Time"
His earnings in 1998–1999 were reported to be Rs1.2 million and in 1999–2000 were Rs0.8 million. In 2011, he was one of a handful of players who were sold land by the government at subsidised prices because they had "made the state proud at national and international levels." His earning was within the top five players’ income of that time.
He represented ATK Mohun Bagan FC as a forward from 2005-2007 and rejoined the club in 2012. He played for East Bengal FC as a forward between 2007 and 2008. In July 2020, Biswas became the football secretary of Mohammedan Sporting Club. In the 129-year history of the club, he is the first footballer who has been appointed as a football secretary.
This is all about his life as a player. He also entered into politics to serve people . In 2014, he ran for election from Basirhat in West Bengal under the Trinmool Congress party ticket, and was defeated by Bharatiya Janatha Party’s candidate, Samik Bhattacharya. In the 2016 state assembly election he defeated Bhattacharya by more than 20,000 votes.
Dipendu will be remembered by the Indian football lovers for his remarkable achievement of scoring 242 goals (As per his own stat) in National and Inter National levels which is the second highest so far in Indian football after Baichung Bhutia.
