Christian Pulisic – Football’s Captain America

Christian Pulisic, a young American winger, born in 1998 is already the captain of the United States Men’s National Team at only 21 years old. Christian spent his youth days with multiple American clubs like Brackley Town, Pennsylvania Classics, and Michigan Rush and was then signed by Borussia Dortmund as a potential talent in the winter of 2015. Dortmund, who are known for developing young talents, saw Captain America as one of their most promising talents and brought him into the first team in 2016.
Christian made a total of 120 appearances for the club, bagging 19 goals and 26 assists. Even after putting in many impressive performances, he could never cement his place in Dortmund’s starting lineup amidst the abundant high quality of young talent present at the club. This led to him deciding to leave the club for Chelsea in January 2019. Pulisic was then immediately sent back to Dortmund on loan for the remaining part of the season and was expected to be the replacement of Chelsea’s best player Eden Hazard, who would ultimately leave Chelsea for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019.
Frank Lampard, who was Chelsea’s new manager when Pulisic actually arrived at Stamford Bridge, took his time to introduce the American to Premier League football. Introducing him in this controlled manner meant Pulisic adjusted to the English league’s physicality very quickly. The USA skipper managed 29 appearances across all competitions for the club in his debut season, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists. Pulisic kicked off his career in great fashion, by scoring a perfect hat-trick against Burnley in Chelsea’s 4-2 win in the Premier League.
It is quite obvious that Frank Lampard will have a fixed place for the American in his team after having such a great impact on the team in his first season. He has already shown that he has got the ability to single-handedly win matches for Chelsea, much like Eden Hazard did for them in the past. It is being widely said that with the right management of the talents Captain America possesses, it wouldn’t come as a shock if he can outshine Hazard in the years to come. All the Blues fans will have their fingers crossed, as they know that they have one of the best young talents in world football at their disposal.
